Often described as England's greatest composer, Henry Purcell’s music serves as a fulcrum for a new collaborative project that arises from a common interest in poetry, sound colours and melody, and the continuum of musical language from the late Renaissance, from folk to modern jazz.

The brainchild of vocalist Annimaria Rinne, and under the direction of composers David Gordon (UK) and Tero Saarti, The Purcell Project assembles a special line-up to serve this unusual musical synthesis, consisting of the cream of Finnish jazz players together with players of instruments from Purcell’s time.
