The Jonathan Bäckström Quartet is a quartet of young, up-and-coming Finnish-Swedish musicians led by Kruunupyy-based bassist-composer Jonathan Bäckström. Bäckström is joined by Adele Sauros on tenor saxophone, Marcus Wärnheim on alto saxophone and Benjamin Nylund on drums.The quartet's music ranges from minimalist soundscapes to explosive multi-layered free improvisation. All four musicians each bring their own voice to the mix and together they create a powerful collective musical statement.
The Flame Jazz Summer Live concert series consists of current names in the Finnish jazz scene and talented ensembles. The concerts are free of charge and are held every Wednesday from 8 May to 14 August 2024 in a cosy park atmosphere in Turku's Cathedral Park Terrace.
