Singer and actress Miia Laitinen returns to her old hometown to perform a concert. The artist—who studied at the Oulu Conservatory, the Liminka School of Arts, and abroad, and who was also crowned Tangokuningatar (Tango Queen) in 2024—brings to the Valvesali a captivating, story-driven musical experience.

In Laitinen's intense interpretation and presence, jazz melodies and Latin rhythms transform into longing, joy, and burning emotion. Songs from different parts of the world come alive as Laitinen also captivates her audience with her love of dance.

Musical accompaniment is performed by the magnificent TT Big Band, which adds color, power, and dramatic glow to the pieces. Laitinen has previously performed as a soloist with the orchestra, and the concert will also feature nostalgic tunes from their shared musical journey. Welcome to a cinematic concert of live music and storytelling!

In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland with the ship Andania. The year thus marks a historic centenary celebration for Finnish jazz: Jazz in Finland 100. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its artists both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz in Finland 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.
