The rare sonic combination of voice and vibraphone encompassed by the virtuosic jazz trio creates a fresh and engaging musical experience. The band is led by the upright bassist Kaisa Mäensivu who also sings with the trio accompanied by musicians who have significant experience working with vocalists. The drummer Joe Peri has recorded with Tony Bennett and the vibraphonist Severi Pyysalo has worked with Sarah Vaughan. The trio’s repertoire is a fun yet complex compilation of songs, including their own compositions and American jazz standards with cleverly adapted Finnish lyrics by Mäensivu.

Classic piano trio jazz is now presented by a trio led by a master pianist Vladimir Shafranov with a uniquely wide experience. He lived in New York for over ten years and performed there with numerous jazz masters. He was one of the regular names who appeared at the hot spot of jazz pianism, Bradley’s jazzclub. His latest trio recording The Way You Look Tonight was published last autumn. It was recorded at the famed Rudy Van Gelder studios and featured the skilled Peter Washington on bass and Kenny Washington on drums. Prior to this one he has released 11 trio recordings. Vladimir Shafranov has also been nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2013.
