Jazz Finland Live
Jazz Suomi 100 / OMJ 2026: Quartet Ajaton,Valvesali, kulttuuritalo Valve, oulu14.3. At 19:00

Founded by singer Mia Simanainen, Quartet Ajaton is an ensemble, where highly innovative musicians from diverse backgrounds weave their skills together. Stylistically, the group is an independent trailblazer, and its enigmatic combination of instruments is likely one of a kind in the entire world! What is familiar, however, is the quartet’s new programme, which features iconic melodies from Finnish culture — tangos, pieces by Sibelius, folk tunes and cattle calls, all rearranged into fresh forms that resound, dance and rumble — the music glows and freezes, setting the listener’s blood in motion.
The quartet has been inspiring audiences with its music for more than ten years, not only in Finland but also in England, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Hungary and Russia. The group’s third full-length album, Fin, highlights the music’s Finnish origins — fittingly in the Jazz Finland 100 anniversary year.
