Four musicians have come together to form a special ensemble. Bassist Kaisa Mäensivu forms the tonal center of the quartet. Sasha Berliner contributes the vibraphone and brings "an extraordinary voice on her instrument" (DownBeat). Nicole McCabe plays the alto saxophone, her tone described as "lyrical yet powerful" (DownBeat). Mareike Wiening provides structure, energy, and subtle nuances on the drums.

The ensemble was formed for an international tour. The musicians first met in New York, and later in Europe. A concert announcement called them "four musicians in a class of their own" (Porgy & Bess). The Stadtgarten Cologne spoke of "a rare example of jazz girl power" (Stadtgarten Cologne).

Saxophonist legend Eero Koivistoinen will be celebrating his 80th birthday at Suisto Club. Koivistoinen, who received the first Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Federation in 1967, is one of the international cornerstones of Finnish jazz, and his magnificent career stretches from the 1960s to the present day.

The Eero Koivistoinen Quartet, which has been playing together for over ten years, will take to the stage. The classic four-player format is Koivistoinen at its best. The group's playing combines tight teamwork, airy dynamics and strong mutual trust. The quartet's groove core is formed by the rhythm group Jori Huhtala (bass) and Jussi Lehtonen (drums). The ensemble is complemented by Alexi Tuomarila's virtuoso pianism and Koivistoinen's distinctive saxophone sound.

The Suisto's brilliant setting has made the venue one of the best jazz venues in Finland.

In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland with the ship Andania. The year thus marks a historic centenary celebration for Finnish jazz: Jazz in Finland 100. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its artists both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz in Finland 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.
