Nina Mya is an award-winning Finnish jazz singer who skillfully blends jazz, soul, and gospel in a way that is unique in the Nordic countries. As a performer, Nina Mya is known for her strong interpretive skills, her nuanced voice, and technical prowess. The festival concert Jazz meets Gospel showcases Nina Mya's love for gospel-influenced music, with some of the country's finest jazz musicians, pianist Henri Mäntylä and saxophonist Joonatan Rautio, accompanying her. The ensemble brings a jazz spirit to gospel interpretations through improvisation.

Whatclub is a renowned ensemble from Åland, which was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2023. The band draws inspiration from the genre created by Django Reinhardt in Paris between the world wars, known as "gypsy swing" or "jazz manouche." In the concert, Whatclub's guitarists Richard Palmer and Jochum Juslin, along with double bassist Kjell Dahl, will perform. In addition, two guest soloists will take the stage: Finnish clarinet master Antti Sarpila and rising Swedish star, trombonist Hampus Adami. Antti Sarpila is an award-winning and internationally renowned jazz musician who is a sought-after soloist in jazz circles around the world. Hampus Adami plays both the trombone and valve trombone, and despite his young age, has already established himself on the Swedish jazz scene. He regularly performs with groups, such as Klas Lindquist Nonet, Stockholm Hot 7, Jon Henriksson Sextet, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra Scandinavia.

The evenings of the Åland Sea Jazz festival conclude with a traditional jam session in the Dyningen ballroom at Hotel Arkipelag. Come and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and spontaneous music from festival artists, guests, and local musicians! FREE ENTRY!

Åland Sea Jazz will take place in Mariehamn on August 9-10, 2024. Check out the full festival program at www.alandseajazz.fi.
