Jazz Finland Live
April Jazz Club + WeeGee: Quartet Ajaton,Näyttelykeskus WeeGee, espoo3.2. At 18:00

Quartet Ajaton's original instrumentation and program coverage shakes up ossified notions of music genres. The backgrounds of the musicians are exceptionally wide: from jazz music to baroque, from Argentinian tango to contemporary music, improvisation and experimenting with everything in the world. The quartet has been exploring together for years and inspired listeners with their music not only in Finland, but also in England, Sweden, Estonia, Hungary and Russia.
As their name suggests, the band also travels through time. The second album Early Music in the Latest Way (Alba Records 2020) contains compositions from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Both the original compositions and the cleverly prepared arrangements are interpreted with bold luxury: the listener is immersed in brisk jazz harmonies and mature improvisations. Rich sonorous tones and cunningly bubbling rhythms complete a deep dive - or a space trip.
