Festival Saturday will immerse you in one of the most famous jazz records of all time, as American editor Ashley Kahn, author of acclaimed A Love Supreme, arrives as a guest at the event to discuss the book and the new John Coltrane publication A Love Supreme – Live In Seattle. After Kahn’s performance, music inspired by the album A Love Supreme will be performed by the quartet Mikko Innanen, Raoul Björkenheim and Teemu Mustonen.
Saturday’s program continues with a unique experience that breaks the boundaries between studio work and the gig situation. The audience can follow the work of bassist-producer Petter Eldh, saxophonist Otis Sandsjö and drummer Teppo Mäkynen live, as an imitation of Eldh’s Berlin studio will be built in G Livelab Helsinki.

The new art space in the city center, Glasshouse, is a great place to host the highly anticipated record release gig. Linda Fredriksson has composed the incomprehensibly stunning, delicate and original album Juniper, which We Jazz will release.

Rare and exciting Christmas treat: Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s jazz arrangement of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, The Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker counts among Tchaikovsky’s (1840–1893) most famous and acclaimed ballets. The piece draws upon E.T.A. Hoffman’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, set on Christmas night. The ballet was premiered in December 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, and in 1960 Ellington and Strayhorn arranged and recorded their own interpretation of the beloved piece.
The concert program is complemented by jazzy arrangements of Christmas classics.
