A set of saxophonist Ville Vannemaa’s compositions. These compositions based upon strong atmospheres and heavy grooves search for ways to orchestrate a piano-less group, using the guitar as a rhythmic and melodic instrument to utilize the personalities of the expressive performers. The concert is a part of Ville Vannemaa’s Level A examination at Sibelius Academy.

Birger's Ragtime Band is formed by a group of experienced musicians who have played in various jazz groups in both Finland and abroad since the 1970s. Their genre, the melodic New Orleans jazz of the early 20th century, is not very widely represented in Finland.
