The brand new collective saw daylight in the lively Berlin scene, when drummer Joonas Leppänen and vibraphonist Panu Savolainen were studying in the local jazz academy in 2012. Leppänen and Savolainen composed intriguing originals for the quartet and invited also the renowned Finnish guitar wizard Kalle Kalima and world-famous American bassist Greg Cohen to play on their demo album.

Jamaze debuted in the Finnish jazz scene in spring 2013 with the "Around The World" album. On their journey around the globe they travel from Australian aboriginal music to Beijing opera, via Ethio jazz to Brazil and all the way to American rap.
