Django Collective Helsinki is a group of skilled professional musicians sharing the love for the passion and expression of Gypsy Jazz music.

The Collective started out in 2011 and have since steadily been performing at jazz festivals, clubs and private occations. They're also known for hosting jam sessions in Helsinki which were a phenomenon of sorts for a decade.

At the monthly recurring club in Tenho the group plays the romantic, traditional and good-humored Gypsy Swing in the styles on Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli from the 30-50's. The group is also merging the tradition with modern, more creative qualities of jazz expression with their own original compositions, bringing into being the possible future for this type of music in a fresh way.

This international jazz trio has a sound that is rich, energizing and creative, emphasized by the band's interaction with each other. Californian trumpeter Rafa Postel's sophisticated and creative playing is supported by Tuomo Purhonen's grooving bass playing, Hector Lepe's playful and stylish guitar playing blends into the band's sound. The band plays their own version of the jazz repertoire eloquently and full of energy.

Jazz Jkl Collective's year ends on a delightful, swinging note as local prodigy, saxophonist Severi Tikkinen, breathes life into the best bebop-era dance tunes!

Saxophonist and pianist Severi Tikkinen has become familiar to the audience in Jyväskylä through his work with the Desho Desho ensemble and his contributions to the Jyväskylä Big Band. Currently studying at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, this musician is also a product of Jyväskylä's music campus and the youth department of the Sibelius Academy.

At the last jazz club of the year, Jazz Jkl Collective and Tikkinen will interpret classics composed by the greatest masters of the bebop era, including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Tadd Dameron, Bud Powell, and Thelonious Monk.

 UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra plays Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s jazz arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, The Nutcracker. Beloved actress Anna Airola brings the story to life and reads the fairy tale written by E.T.A. Hoffmann about the Christmas night adventure of the Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Glittering winter forests, an enchanted marzipan castle, toys that miraculously come alive... The Nutcracker Tale is full of magic and exciting twists! The plot of The Nutcracker, one of Tchaikovsky's most famous and acclaimed ballets, is based on E.T.A. Hoffman's Christmas story. The ballet was premiered in December 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, and in 1960 Ellington and Strayhorn arranged and recorded their own interpretation of the beloved piece. The jazz adaptation has in recent years become a UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra’s Christmas tradition, which is now spiced up with a fairy tale – for the first time in Finland!

Anna Airola (b. 1994) is a popular and award-winning actress hailing from Kokkola. Airola, who graduated from the Theatre Academy in 2022, has been chosen as the Best TV Actress of the Year and awarded with the Kultainen Venla prize for her role as Oona in Yle's Aikuiset series. Airola, who grew up in a musical family, sings in the Ykspihlajan kino-orkesteri and has played tenor horn as well.
