"Music has a power to light up the minds of people and make them notice the things that are beautiful in the world. For this concert – and for my future recording - I have gathered a program consisting of my newest ballads. I feel they reach the deepest feelings and, through this, give strength to people. They are like love songs, with no words, and the most important thing in them is not the plentitude of notes but their weight."
In 2006 Iro Haarla was awarded The Yrjö Award by the Finnish Jazz Association. In addition, she has won "The Best Jazz Recording of the Year" in both 2005 and 2011. Haarla also received the Ted Curson Award during the Pori Jazz Festival in 2018 and "The Finnish Jazz Legend nr 35" award by the Finnish Music Archives in 2020.
