Jazz Finland Live

Saxophonist Mikko Innanen, bassist Ville Herrala, and drummer Joonas Riippa founded the wild and free jazz trio PLOP in 2007. They joined forces with the living legend of Finnish music, saxophonist and flutist Juhani "Junnu" Aaltonen, for the first time in 2018.

The independent record label Fiasko Records released the quartet's PLOP & JUNNU CD in the spring of 2022. Originally recorded as a radio tape for YLE, the album contains compositions that were born during the darkest days of the pandemic for Innanen, Herrala, and Riippa, as well as two group improvisations. PLOP & JUNNU won the Emma Award for the best jazz album of 2022.
