Find the hidden treasure in Helsinki for your jazzy day off! Koko Jazz Club hosts some of the finest jazz artist in the world. It is a club run by musicians, which is why some of the very best artists, such as Dave Liebman, Joey Calderazzo, Jeff Watts, Adam Nussbaum and Tim Hagans, hit the stage when they are around. Pianist Aki Rissanen (b. 1980) has been quickly rising among the few top forces of the instrument in Finnish jazz. Although originally classically trained he has always had a heart for improvised music. In addition to his merits in the Solo Piano Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and La Defense competition in France, Rissanen is known for his works with Verneri Pohjola on ACT Music in Germany. He has released 5 albums under his own name and is gaining growing attention in the European jazz scene.
Trumpeter and composer Verneri Pohjola has been in the international spotlight for the past few years and is acknowledged as a jazz star in the making. Having released his two previous albums on the German ACT label to huge critical acclaim, including a five star review from The Guardian, he is now set to fulfill his enormous creative potential.
The pair drummer Jussi Lehtonen and bassist Timo Hirvonen has made the tightest rhythm section for 20 years. Changing rhythmic textures are these guys' specialty.

SteelNovo Trio's Bruno Erminero will sweep you off your feet with his irrepressible Hammond-playing! The Italian trio's music is composed by experienced guitarist Giuliano Graziani, while the drummer's seat is occupied by Tiziano Tetro.

At 21:00 the stage will be taken by Rinaldi-Luhtala Jazz Project, which was formed by Finnish pianist Karri Luhtala during his student years in 2006. While in Rome, studying the jazz piano, Luhtala met the talented young vocalist, Valeriana Rinaldi, who quickly became the voice for the group. They have released one album, entitled Terranova, which combines Scandinavian folk flavours with Italian delicacies.
