Jazz Finland Live

UMO’s 40th anniversary concert series continues in the autumn season with a collaboration concert with clarinetist and saxophonist Antti Sarpila.

Sarpila (b. 1964) is known as a strong proponent of swing and traditional jazz and has released dozens of records, mostly with his own Antti Sarpila Swing Band. He has worked with e.g. American traditional jazz legend Bob Wilberg, the Count Basie Orchestra, Metropole Orkest from Holland and Finnish jazz vocalist Johanna Iivanainen. Orchestra is led by Jouni Järvelä.

The three-concert series features jazz and swing classics mostly of Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman as well as a few pieces from composer, conductor Kirmo Lintinen.
