Swinging music rarely heard in Finland by an organ trio and baritone saxophone. The repertoire consists of compositions inspired by George Benson’s recordings from the 1960s and jazz evergreens.

Sibafest’s opening concert with Sibis Alumni Big Band will be joined by highly merited American soloists, guitarist John Scofield and pianist-conductor Jim McNeely. Scofield, one of jazz’s most highly regarded guitarists, has performed with several of the genre’s legends, such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Charles Mingus. Jim McNeely has received many Grammy nominations as a solo artist and is also known for his work with some of the most legendary jazz groups, from Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band to Stan Getz Quartet. The concert’s repertoire consists of John Scofield’s compositions arranged for a jazz band by Jim McNeely.
