Tulevat jazztohtorit kohtaavat yleisön! Luentokonsertissa avataan jazzmusiikin mystiikkaa ja perinnettä soittaen ja luennoiden. Ohjaavana opettajana professori Jukkis Uotila.
Tilaisuuteen on vapaa pääsy.
Yhteistyössä Sibelius-Akatemian jazzin aineryhmä, Sibelius-Akatemian Kehittämiskeskus ja Koko Jazz Club.

The We Jazz 2013 Brunch at Siltanen features live sets by KVR (Kannaste-Viinikainen-Riippa) and jazz grooves by the We Jazz Djs. The brunch is on from 11am to 4pm.

This is a BIG one. We welcome the legendary Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko in Helsinki for the first time with his European quintet featuring the Danish Jakob Bro and Anders Christensen plus the Finnish Alexi Tuomarila and Olavi Louhivuori. You can hear this ensemble on the awesome ECM album “Dark Eyes” from 2009. And what would we be thinking if we didn’t book our very own Timo Lassy Band, “one of the sharpest bands in Europe” according to the Sunday Times. They promised to play a new set, so this one is for all the true Lassy fans out there. Pianist Joona Toivanen begins the proceedings with his solo piano debut, marking the release of his new album.

Saturday afternoon is for kids and those with kids. Mopo will invite some friends over and what’s best, children can join in on some of the collective creation. There will also be some workshops for the very young. We think this is best for children of 3 to 10 years of age. Book early for family/group tickets.

The final episode of the epic We Jazz 2013 jazz week takes place at Kuudes Linja. Live sets by Kahden Miehen Galaksi and Dalindèo, plus the We Jazz DJs alongside the National RGB VJ collective.

The by now traditional Christmas concert tour of UMO will this year be headlining leading Finnish performing artist Vuokko Hovatta, whose third solo album is scheduled for release in September.
The Christmas tour will span two weeks at the turn of November and December, with concerts at Temppeliaukio Church in Helsinki and the Church of St Lawrence in Vantaa, and further afield in Porvoo, Hyvinkää, Hämeenlinna, Kouvola and Kotka.
The repertoire will feature some of the best-known and most beloved Christmas songs by celebrated Finnish poets and composers such as Eino Leino, Viktor Rydberg, Jean Sibelius and Zachris Topelius. Classic numbers will include Arkihuolesi kaikki heitä, A Child is Born and Tonttu. The arrangements are written with church acoustics in mind.
Vuokko Hovatta (b. 1972) is a singer and actress who became known as a member of the band Ultra Bra in the 1990s. She released her first solo album in 2008, and her third is scheduled to be released in September this year. Vuokko Hovatta has appeared in several musicals (including Evita and Wicked), stage plays (including The King’s Speech and Missä kuljimme kerran) and films (including Suden arvoitus). At the moment, she is busy not only with her solo career but also as a member of the Kerkko Koskinen Kollektiivi with Paula Vesala and Manna.
