Aili Ikonen's deeply expressive songs meet Oona Airola's charismatic presence in a concert specially created for Jyväskylä Festival.
Aili Ikonen is one of Finland's leading singers and songwriters, renowned for her sensitive yet virtuosic interpretations. Her expressive range is rooted in jazz but boldly reaches beyond genre boundaries. Ikonen's luminous career includes collaborations with a variety of jazz ensembles, big band productions, and acclaimed interpretations of Ella Fitzgerald's repertoire. She is also widely known as a member of the vocal group Rajaton. In 2025, Ikonen was awarded the Yrjö Award by the Finnish Jazz Federation, one of the most prestigious honours in Finnish jazz.
In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland with the ship Andania. The year thus marks a historic centenary celebration for Finnish jazz: Jazz in Finland 100. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its artists both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz in Finland 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.
