Anni Kiviniemi is a jazz pianist and composer based in Los Angeles, who has performed extensively across the Nordic countries, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Canada, both as a solo artist and with her own trio. Kiviniemi’s boundary-pushing musical style balances on the edge of chaos and order, navigating the subtle line between improvisation and composed material. Attentive listeners may detect influences ranging from Slavic folk dances and 20th-century classical piano music to Middle Eastern musical traditions and free jazz.

Anni Kiviniemi Trio’s debut album Eir (We Jazz Records), released in 2024, has been described as “lyrical and explosive” as well as “uncompromisingly original, beautiful, and timeless”. Although the structure of the pieces is carefully crafted, Kiviniemi encourages her fellow musicians to take risks, explore new ideas, and have fun: as a result, no two live performances of the songs are ever the same. Kiviniemi invites her audience (and often herself) to be surprised, moved, and challenged.

The Hämeenlinna Musical Club (HSK) is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. HSK is the oldest association in Finland dedicated to rhythm music and has been a driving force in Hämeenlinna's jazz scene for decades. The general public is most familiar with the association through the Linnajazz festival and the concerts of the Linnajazz Club.

Now, HSK is celebrating its milestone in grand style. The anniversary concert at the Hämeenlinna Theatre will feature not just one but two renowned big bands, both well known from Hämeenlinna's squares, parks, and concert halls: Vanaja Big Band and Hämeenlinna Big Band. Expect plenty of swing and a rich, full-bodied sound. The program includes classic pieces from HSK's past decades and the best selections from both orchestras. There will also be surprise guest performers, ensuring an unforgettable evening of rhythm music entertainment from Hämeenlinna!

Piirpauke, founded in 1974, is considered one of the first significant world music ensembles. Combining progressive rock, world music and jazz, the band's 50-year career includes a respectable 19 studio albums and hundreds of concerts in Finland and around the world. The band has previously been seen on the main stages of Ruisrock, Provinssirock, Pori Jazz and Roskilde.

Piirpauke plays on the Musine stage as a quartet, as did in the early years of the band. There will be virtuoso interpretations of the band's classic songs.
