Max Medvedev Quartet, consisting of top jazz musicians from their generation, originated when the members were studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. The quartet's leader, composer, and saxophonist Max Medvedev invited friends to join the group who share a similar aesthetic sense and musical taste. In addition to Max, the ensemble includes Juho Valjakka (piano), Juuso Rinta (bass), and Arttu Huopainen (drums).

The band's repertoire comprises Max's compositions and his arrangements of jazz standards. The playlist features both well-known songs and lesser-heard "hidden gems" that Max has discovered over the years. The band's style can be described as an extension of the swing and bop-era jazz traditions, infused with shades of classical music and modern sounds.

As a composer, Max draws inspiration from various sources, such as 1950s cool jazz, Ravel's impressionistic style, and Arvo Pärt's minimalism, emphasizing melody and harmony. The result is the ensemble's unique and distinctive sound, full of expressive freedom and high-level musical cohesion and interaction.
