Seppo Kantonen Trio means the legendary pianist Seppo Kantonen's return to the traditional piano-bass-drums trio. Founded in 2023, the band with bassist Antti Lötjönen and drummer Markku Ounaskari tours extensively in Finland in January-February 2024.
Pianist Seppo Kantonen (b. 1963) has since 1982 played almost any kind of jazz and a lot of other music from rock to baroque - because even as a young music student he wanted to master all styles just in case, and learn to play them all in his own style. Seppo Kantonen received the Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Federation in 1985 and the Taiteen Nuori Suomi Award in 1996.
The concert is part of the Vapaat äänet tour.
