The Kymijoen Lohisoitto festival opening concert is a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the pioneering saxophonist, Eero Koivistoinen. This grand old man of Finnish jazz takes the stage alongside vocalist Johanna Iivanainen and UMO Jazz Orchestra, Finland's no. 1 big band. We will be in for a cross-section of Koivistoinen's big band works from over the years, plus a handful of funk numbers and new pieces composed specifically for the occasion.
