Jarmo Savolainen (24 May 1961 Iisalmi - 11 June 2009 Helsinki) was a Finnish jazz pianist, keyboardist and composer. He was one of the most internationally successful Finnish jazz musicians of all time.

Savolainen studied at the Conservatory of Kuopio in 1977-1979. His style was influenced by Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett. Studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston led to his decision of becoming a professional musician.

Savolainen was known for his versatility as a composer, whose music ranged from solo piano compositions to big band music. He also made music for the stage, dance groups, TV shows and films.

As a musician, Savolainen performed in different groups from rock to contemporary music. His groups included The Baltic Quartet, Espoo Big Band, UMO Jazz Orchestra and Pekka Pohjola's band. His first solo album came out on the Dutch Timeless label in New York, which was followed by three international releases on the Dutch A-records. He appeared on dozens of recordings both as a musician and composer.

Kokko Quartet plays recognizably Scandinavian jazz but draws influences from Indian and Arabic music as well as Cuban rhythms, thus creating a distinctive overall sound. The group performs songs written by pianist Johanna Pitkänen, saxophone player Kaisa Siirala and bass player Timo Tuppurainen. Together with drummer Risto Takala, these four musicians share an interest in free expression, jazz and world music. Intuitively, they move through the music with a spirit of great freedom in their interplay.

The group's debut album "Like a River" was released in March 2013. During 2013 the group also performed in Czech Republic and Germany. In the concert at Allotria, Kokko Quartet is joined by percussion player Ricardo Padilla, introducing different percussion sounds from Latin America and the Mediterranean area.

Kaisa Siirala - saxophones, flute, bansuri

Johanna Pitkänen - piano, keys

Timo Tuppurainen - bass

Risto Takala - drums

Ricardo Padilla - percussion
