Tatu & Tutkimusmatkailijat is a band that conducts its explorations through instrumental music. Stylistically, the band moves between the worlds of progressive and psychedelic rock as well as roots and ethnic music. Their musical explorations naturally blend the stylistic traits of the band's key influences: Pekka Pohjola's symphonic jazz-rock, blues-based prog jamming in the vein of The Allman Brothers and Kingston Wall, and world music influences, such as those found in Piirpauke.
The band, assembled by bassist Tatu Back, released its debut album *Matka kaikkine vaiheineen* in late 2020 (Eclipse Music). The band's second studio album, *Vasta alkusoittoa*, was released in January 2024 (Eclipse Music). We especially invite those who are unsure of their own relationship with jazz to join us on this exploratory journey that traverses the boundaries of many different styles—and that's why admission to this wonderful concert is free!

Harri Kuusijärvi Aallot // OutoJazz 2026Teatteri Kiisu, Vanha Kaivos, outokumpu16.5. At 17:00

Harri Kuusijärvi – electronically enhanced accordion
Jori Huhtala – double bass
Mika Kallio – drums
At the Aallot concert, accordionist Harri Kuusijärvi combines the acoustic warmth of his new electronically enhanced accordion with the jazz rhythm section formed by bassist Jori Huhtala and drummer Mika Kallio. The trio blends Nordic serenity with effervescent jazz and improvisation. The result is music that is earthy, minimalist, and irresistibly groovy—and probably something you've hardly ever heard before.
Harri Kuusijärvi is one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary accordion music. He has premiered numerous contemporary works composed for the accordion, performed with countless artists across the rhythm music scene, and garnered critical acclaim for his albums across genre boundaries.
The Finnish Accordion Association named Kuusijärvi Accordion Artist of the Year 2023, stating in its rationale that "with his open-minded projects, Kuusijärvi has expanded the understanding of just how versatile the accordion can be as an instrument."
Kuusijärvi was also nominated for the Classical Artist of the Year award at the 2021 Emma Gala and for the Teosto Award in 2020.

Linda Fredriksson & Mikko Innanen // OutoJazz 2026Jauhimo, Vanha Kaivos, outokumpu16.5. At 14:00

Linda Fredriksson – saxophones
Mikko Innanen – saxophones
Linda Fredriksson & Mikko Innanen (aka Vesku and Paula) use their saxophones to explore the fundamental questions of existence: Who are we? Where do we come from? Meyer or Otto Link?
Mikko and Linda are both among the most prominent Finnish saxophonists of their generation, having earned widespread acclaim and recognition in their own right. Both are characterized by boundary-pushing curiosity, a willingness to throw themselves into the moment, and intense emotion. At the ruggedly beautiful Jauhimo's fully acoustic concert, in addition to Fredriksson and Innanen's own compositions and free improvisation, we may also hear cover songs—perhaps even Kirka!
In addition to Jauhimo's concert, which is open to the public, the duo will also perform for the residents of the nearby Kotikumpu Senior Center as part of the festival program.
