Internationally renowned pianist and composer Norbert Káel gives a classical-jazz crossover solo concert on Friday, 20th October, 6 PM at the Balder Hall (Aleksanterinkatu 12, Helsinki). The program features the works of Bartók, Kodály and Ligeti in exciting arrangements by Norbert Káel. The concert is supported by the Hungarian Academy of Arts.

Pianist and composer Norbert Káel is an internationally recognized and outstanding artist of the crossover musical style. Following his studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, he spent 4 semesters as a scholarship student at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Then, he continued his studies in New York at the world-famous Juilliard School of Music under the direction of Matti Raekallio and Seymour Lipkin as well as Kenny Barron. Káel’s style amalgamating classical music and jazz crystallized during the years spent in the USA.

Norbert Káel teaches improvisation techniques at the Liszt Academy for students of classical piano. In addition, he holds workshops and lectures worldwide. He is a visiting professor at the Jilin University of Arts (China) and a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
