Joona Toivanen Trio published their latest album - their seventh - Both Only (We Jazz) in 2022, and the trio's sound on the album is strong and cohesive. The band has been awarded the Teosto award and nominated for an Emma award, and it has toured around the world. The newest album is full of melancholic songs that leave room for free improvisation. Louis Sclavis Quartet

Since the 1980s, French clarinetist Louis Sclavis has been making his way to the top of European jazz. He is one of the pioneers who set the new track for European jazz and improvised music by developing his own personal style of academic-free expression.

The iconic musician, who turns 70 this year, has long admired the street art of visual artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest. For the music of the Characters On A Wall quartet, formed in 2017, Sclavis has chosen Pignon-Ernest's wall images from Paris to Ramallah in Palestine. With this new ensemble, Sclavis returns to the classical jazz quartet line-up: wind instrument, piano, bass and drums. He has invited three unique musicians who have the ability to develop strong interpretations of his compositions. Pianist Benjamin Moussay had previously played with Sclavis in two bands. Bassist Sarah Murcia and drummer Christophe Lavergne were new partners, but their long playing experience together ensures a smooth blend into the ensemble. Concert is a part of the Vapaat äänet tour.
