We simply couldn’t be happier to have this We Jazz Records souble feature as the final concert of this year’s festival. Really! It would be impossible to be happier about it. Trust us. First of all, we get to welcome our pal, drummer Terkel Nørgaard from Copenhagen to present his fantastic music as heard on the album “With Ralph Alessi”. So it’s the fantastic Danish trio of Terkel  We’ve been waiting for this one!

The closing performance comes courtesy of two lovely guys and out-of-this-world great musicians sax man Timo Lassy and drummer-producer Teppo Mäkynen in their new duo setting. It’s no surprise that these two are already making waves both here in Finland and outside of the country as well. Their recent Flow Festival performance was a celebrated success and the album is nothing short of pure genius. Live, they both show up and deliver. These guys are at the same time reliable and totally surprising.

We Jazz 2019: KATU KAIKUTiivistämö, helsinki8.12. At 15:00

This family friendly Sunday event features Katu Kaiku, a fantastic young group whose album “Luna” on Svart Records ranks among our current favourites. The band has a fantastically personal take on their music and the development of their sound. It’s hard to describe exactly, but they seem to apply some tools of pop-tinged songwriting into the idiom of jazz. The point is, they have some tunes.
