Pianist-composer Olli Ahvenlahti's album, released in April, also celebrates the long career and life's work of the Finnish jazz legend, who turns 75 this year. Olli Ahvenlahti New Quintet will perform material from the album at their gig in Salo.

Olli Ahvenlahti's new album Mirror Mirror is a return to more electric jazz funk after his previous full-length Thinking, Whistling (We Jazz Records, 2017) with an acoustic band. Mirror Mirror contains eight songs composed by Ahvenlahti, ranging from the powerful jazz-funk of the first single, Paint It Blue, to the serene rhythm ballad section of the closing track Bedtime Snack. Maestro also knows how to give space to his brilliant band and the overall sound of the album is ear-pleasing stylistically pure, but also suitably bursting and surprising.
