This year marks the 200th anniversary of Hungarian writer Mór Jókai. His novel The Man with the Golden Touch (Az arany ember, 1872) tells the story of Mihály Tímár, who, after gaining wealth and power, searches for inner peace that he can only find on the "No Man's Island."
The silent film Man of Gold (Sándor Korda, 1918), adapted from the novel, is one of the early significant productions in Hungarian film history. The screening will be accompanied live by Hungarian jazz pianist and composer László Süle.
