Mäkelä-Dunkel Family Quartet performs their own compositions, Finnish jazz songs and selected jazz standards.
The family band has previously performed in Helsinki in Café Carusel and in Ruovesi together with Jukka Linkola. The brothers have also performed with each other and they perform with their own bands too. Their compositions combine influeces from both the history and the present day of jazz.
Mirja Mäkelä is one of the most well-known jazz singers in Finland and has released five own albums. The brothers represent the younger generation of jazz: Eero plays with Joonatan Henriksson Quintet and with the Emma-awarded rap-artist Turisti. Atso has also released a full album on his own name. Tuukka is studying in Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
