Kari Antila & Karri Luhtala Organ Brothers is a jazz trio founded in 2017, with an ambitious goal in sight: To reform the traditions of organ jazz! The troika’s music, penned by the title duo, addresses a variety of African-American musical styles: funk, soul, reggae, New Orleans style and progressive rock. The Brothers knot all of these cords into a colourful macrame of jazz tradition. The trio has performed at numerous Finnish festivals and recently toured Belgium in 2019.

The electronic quartet Unya is singer-pianist Hilkka Louhivuori’s refreshing take on the trip-hoppy acid jazz of the past decades. The band is influenced by the likes of James Blake, Bon Iver, Björk, Sufjan Stevens and Laura Mvula, and labels their music “indie-electro-hop”. Their 2019 released, self-titled album is a rare treat for the sound geeks: The subtle-toned but concise tracks were recorded in Kiikala wooden church, and the modern studio production sets Louhivuori’s vocals to an international-level soundscape.

The music of this youthful and dynamic group builds upon the compositional visions of its band leader. The Finnish drummer Jonatan Sarikoski has resided in Austria for the past few years, and with this ensemble’s debut album he says he has reached a personal milestone.

“For me personally this is a culmination of a long journey that dates all the way back to my childhood years when I first scribbled down sketches of little compositions of mine, already early on aspiring to have my own band one day”, Sarikoski states about The Time Is Ripe album, which came out in February 2020 on the Swiss Unit Records label.
