Jazz Finland Live

The concert features Verneri Pohjola’s and his group’s interpretations of Pekka Pohjola’s wonderful compositions. Verneri Pohjola, the 2017 winner of the Yrjö Award, has for years made a career as one of the leading Finnish jazz musicians, but only now has enough time elapsed that he feels he can tackle his father’s music as an independent musician. The Pekka album, released in the summer of 2017, was well received.
For the concert, Verneri has selected his own favourites from among his father’s extensive production. The entity, varying from intimate to explosive interpretation covers production from the 1970s all the way to the 1990s. This is not a tribute, but a reinterpretation where music has the first priority. In addition to Verneri, also top names of Finnish jazz that play in his group give their all to a unique performance.
