Jazz Finland Live
Zander feat. Teemu Viinikainen – Acoustic to Electric,Black Box, Musiikkitalo, helsinki27.3. At 19:00
Zander

Zander, founded in 2010, performed for the first time in Belgium at the revered international Hoeilaart Jazz contest final, rousing immediate reactions from the jury with their explosive energy and intense group musicianship. Over the years, the group has evolved from a traditional acoustic jazz trio into a more electric one. The concert repertoire exhibits both sides of Zander with the addition of Teemu Viinikainen’s soulful guitar playing. The concert doubles as bass player Juho Kivivuori’s doctoral degree concert.
Juho Kivivuori (b. 1983) came to Finnish music from Värtsilä, Northern Karelia. His musical studies began with the violin at the age of four and were soon accompanied by the piano and guitar. During his lower secondary studies, Kivivuori became increasingly interested in popular music and switched to electric bass as his main instrument. Currently, Kivivuori, who is known for his versatile and broad-minded musicianship, performs both the double and electric bass, crossing genre boundaries. Kivivuori’s expressive playing has been lately heard in the following groups: Nassaun Fasaani, Ketola Rewired, Kantonen Camping, Johanna Iivanainen, D-Booster, Mirja Mäkelä Trio, and Esko Järvelä Epic Male Band.
