Aili Ikonen & Jukka Perko: Klasstet

Tickets 19 € / 35 € / 38 €
The new ensemble of singer Aili Ikonen and saxophonist Jukka Perko reinterprets some of classical music's most famous melodies with a jazz-infused approach! These familiar classical tunes are given new life when paired with brand-new poetic lyrics. Finnish lyrics for these compositions - originally known as instrumental pieces—have been crafted by Paleface, Mariska, Mikko Kuustonen, and Kanerva Pasanen, among others - all of whom are today's leading Finnish lyricists.
In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland with the ship Andania. The year thus marks a historic centenary celebration for Finnish jazz: Jazz in Finland 100. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its artists both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz in Finland 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.
