Jazz Finland Live

Antila/Mäkynen/Tuuri trio is a trio of top musicians who play swinging music with a lively atmosphere. The trio consists of players from the younger generation, Mikko Antila and Joonas Tuuri, and one of Finland’s most famous jazz drummers, Teppo Mäkynen. The band played for the first time at Manala’s Afterwork Jazz, and it was clear from the first notes that the trio would continue making music in the future. The feeling of eloquent and relaxed improvisation combined with classic songs creates a really intimate and engaging atmosphere.

The Héctor Lepe Quartet, known for blending Latin American musical elements with the language of modern jazz, will embark on a Jazz Federation tour in March. The quartet, led by the acclaimed young guitarist Héctor Lepe, will perform in Turku, Kotka, Savonlinna, Joensuu, and Kuopio.

Héctor Lepe Quartet delivers fresh and vibrant music that allows space for each member’s unique personality to shine. Joining guitarist and bandleader Héctor Lepe are Finland’s top-tier jazz talents: saxophonist Max Zenger, bassist Juuso Rinta, and drummer Teemu Mustonen. The group, composed of Lepe’s favorite musicians, takes listeners on a journey through the mystical legends and landscapes of Mexico.

Released by Flame Jazz Records in spring 2023, Pedro’s Dream is Héctor Lepe’s debut album as both a bandleader and a composer. The album has received widespread critical acclaim.

Jazz – heard and seen!

Finnish Jazz Federation’s essential form of operation is national touring. The annual touring activities enable approximately 100 concerts in 40 different locations all over Finland. The concerts mainly take place in their member organizations. Tours include both in-house productions and collaborations with external producers.
