Singer Sami Saari, aka “The Godfather Of Finnish Soul”, has always kept jazz in his heart, like a lover on the side. Finally, he gave in to the lure of jazz, and put together a classic jazz piano trio to play Finnish versions of evergreens and Saari’s own songs. Jazzpojat,”The Jazz Boys”, are some of the most talented young musicians in Finland.

Helsinki-based Peela is a fairly new acquaintance on the jazz stages but instead they have emerged in their hometown’s club scene already a couple of years ago. Their career took a flight in the spring of 2018, when the debut album “Layers” came out. Since that the young musicians have played their fusion-jazz at many of the main venues and festivals in Southern Finland.

The dynamic post-bop quintet released their sophomore album “Stars Aligned” in the spring of 2018 on the prestigious German label Ozella Music. “Stars Aligned” was immediately noted in the music media both in Finland and abroad, and Vesala’s name began to get accompanied by the “new Miles Davis” attribute.
