Virva Immonen – voc, Toomas Keski-Säntti – keys, Oskari Siirtola – b, Okko Saastamoinen – drs

The irrepressible Viba is all about captivating stories, adventurous sounds and liberated improvisation. The quartet performs singer-songwriter Virva Immonen’s swinging material, whose playful Finnish lyrics offer clever, rascally observations about humanity. Immonen names the American jazz of the 50s and 60s, Finnish contemporary poetry and insightful cinema as the biggest sources of inspiration for her music.

Jaska Lukkarinen Trio has climbed to the absolute top of Finnish jazz over the recent years. Their intuitive and reactive interplay has plenty to do with them sticking together since they started in 2007, touring actively and releasing three albums. The last one that came out in 2017, featured Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen’s music that was originally composed for Dalindèo and Ricky-Tick Big Band. Summer Bay Jazz sees also a special guest appearance by the German trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky, who completes the trio’s simple, yet melodic sound.
