Jazz Finland Live

Like Orwell put it: “All are equal. Some are more equal than others”, and the trio added: “But only very few are equally stupid.” Equally Stupid is an energetic Finnish/Icelandic/Swiss group. Their music is imaginative, rhythmic, furious, intense, raw yet melodic. All three members are active and versatile artists that have been touring internationally with their own projects for many years. The trio released their debut album Exploding Head on Eclipse Music in February 2014.

The spirit of original Finnish rock music will be present at Koko Jazz Club tonight as Kauko Röyhkä takes the stage with his trusted vibraphone artist, Severi Pyysalo. Röyhkä's best-known songs, such as "Laura", "Kevät" and "Paska kaupunki" are a honest mirror of the Finnish national character. One can expect a sweaty and swinging show when this contemporary national poet performs with a jazz band.

Koko kesä Kalliossa invites one beloved Finnish artist at a time to front the house band, whose core is formed by vibraphonist Arttu Takalo, bassist Timo Hirvonen and drummer Jussi Lehtonen. Koko Jazz Orchestra arranges a number of highlights from each feature artist’s career, seasoning the favourite songs with jazz.
