The Watercolors is a jazz ensemble interpreting oboist Janne Saarinen's compositions. With oboe, strings, vibraphone, double bass, and drums, the group blends jazz improvisation and swing with classical color. Their music forms melodic "jazz watercolors," where each instrument leaves a distinct brushstroke. Saarinen's oboe traces airy, recognizable lines like a brush on translucent canvas.

Aki Rissanen Hyperreal is a trio inspired by the electronic world, blending Nordic jazz, Middle Eastern rhythms, electronic soundscapes, and '90s breakbeats. The music moves between acoustic sensitivity and electric power, improvisation and structure, clarity and chaos—reflecting the shifting boundaries between reality and virtuality in our changing times.

The Otherworld Ensemble presents Sielun lintu / Soul Bird Suite, a new composition by Heikki Koskinen and Rent Romus, inspired by Kalevala's bird myths and the soul-guiding Siberian jay. The suite explores themes of creation, life, and the cycle of seasons.

The ensemble features three musicians from California and two from Finland. Saxophonist-flutist Rent Romus and electric trumpeter Heikki Koskinen are longtime collaborators and seasoned composers. They are joined by versatile multi-instrumentalist Elihu Knowles, Finnish jazz-folk innovator Otto Eskelinen, and poetic double bassist Ville Rauhala.

Flutes and other winds take center stage, supported by bells, percussion, keyboards, bird whistles, and recorded birdsong. The performance blends improvisation, jazz, and folk traditions into a unique musical experience.

Norwegian jazz trumpeter Hildegunn Øiseth (b. 1966) uniquely blends modern jazz, Nordic folk, and world music. She has explored musical traditions in South Africa, Pakistan, and Lapland, discovering surprising connections such as the use of the goat horn. Øiseth uses both trumpet and goat horn to create a sound that is both archaic and modern. Her music also addresses social issues like refugees and war victims. Her 2025 album Garden on the Roof furthers her personal, layered jazz expression. She has performed in Finland, including at April Jazz.
