This concert features UMO Jazz Orchestra’s renditions of blues in its different forms. The 16-piece orchestra concentrates on the narration, intonation and mood of blues, which have always been essential parts of jazz music. UMO takes it from the boogie of jump-blues, all the way to delicate blue moods of misery in a programme, which consists of music from composers like Duke Ellington and Kari ”Sonny” Heinilä. The orchestra is led by Jouni Järvelä.

December starts off with spiritual jazz. At Paavalinkirkko (St. Paul's Church) in Vallila,
in the vicinity of the We Jazz offices, TIMO LASSY and the highly acclaimed HIGHER
GROUND gospel choir unveil their joint project. It's a first for both the musicians and
the choir. Gospel + jazz = genius.
