Jamison Ross

April Jazz festival presents new concert venue in the heart of Otaniemi campus, at the new Fazer Food & Co. A Bloc restaurant. Show & Dinner -package includes buffet dinner and two high quality performers.
Jamison Ross
One of the hottest young names in music, singer and drummer, Jamison’s music shimmers between jazz, R&B, soul, gospel and blues. Think of a mix of Donny Hathaway and Elvin Jones. One minute you’re enjoying his super-soulful voice, gospel inflections and infectious love of melody; the next you’re digging his grooving, swinging drumming with his band.
His 2015 debut release, Jamison, introduced the world to his concept of rhythm and melody and also garnered a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. His sophomore release, All For One, takes listeners a level deeper into Jamison’s ethos. The album is a result of a personal revelation that “we all have the capacity to love with empathy in a deeper way.”

Dalindèo
Dalindèos upcoming fifth album Dark Money speaks out about the chaotic state the world is in, with market economy defining our values and injustice taking over. Musically the new album follows the path of 1970s fusion jazz of Miles Davis, explosive live energy of Charles Mingus and psychedelic space jazz of Sun Ra. Dalindèo-leader Valtteri Pöyhönen is also known for leading the 20-piece ecclectic big-band-jazz-rap-collective Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana.

TATU RÖNKKÖ: MUSIC FOR PLASTIC BOTTLES
Music for plastic bottles is a solo project by percussionist and sound artist Tatu Rönkkö, featuring everyday objects such as empty plastic bottles, cans and bowls as instruments. The hypnotic music does not immediately awaken an association of that which is human-made and non-degradable materials but rather something welling up from the depths of nature and the eternal.
SUPERPOSITION
Superposition is the new creative quartet led by Helsinki-based drummer/composer Olavi Louhivuori. The band features some of the most ear-worthy musical talent in the buzzing Finnish scene in saxophonists Linda Fredriksson and Adele Sauros, plus bassist Mikael Saastamoinen. Superposition might be inspired by quantum physics but their music is a truest form of contemporary jazz, meaning that they're reaching for the next unknown at all times. At times venturing far "out", at times locking into a hard groove, Superposition never fails to surprise. This is raw, unfiltered original music, no physics course required. Superposition's debut album was released in March 2020. The group is expected to be one of the major new names to emerge from the Finnish scene this year.
