Percussionist Simo Laihonen is perhaps best known from the hard-hitting trio ensemble Black Motor. His playing is always musical to the bone, and this man if anybody should be given the space to perform a solo set. Well, this is it, a tribute to his teacher Milford Graves, regarded as one of the most legendary percussion masters in the world of free improvisation.

Koma Saxo debuted last year at We Jazz and now the band is back with their excellent first LP on We Jazz Records. Led by visionary bassist/producer Petter Eldh, Koma Saxo features five rock solid European jazz stars but, remarkably enough, makes a unified band unit out of them. This is no “supergroup”, but instead a real group which just sounds more superb than most others.
