The “Ideat stemmoiksi – Big Band -sovituksen opas” is a guide for professionals as well as for people interested in the jazz music arranging. Writer MikkoToivanen is a pioneer in jazz research and operated in the field of jazz education over 35 years.
The first Sunday of November sees the premier of the first commission work of Turku Jazz Orchestra. The piece is composed by pianist-composer Henri Lyysaari, who won the Turku Jazz Orchestra composition contest in 2016. The soloist of Sunday’s concert is saxophonist and wind instrument specialist Max Zenger.
“Saarnaaja”, the third studio album of the Sointi Jazz Orchestra, is a homage to saxophonist and flutist Juhani “Junnu” Aaltonen. The album is released at the ensemble’s anniversary concert on Saturday 3 November. Sointi Jazz Orchestra supports the new album performing together with Aaltonen on a mini-tour covering three cities in Finland.
Case Kämäräinen releases their debut album on 9 November on Eclipse Music. The digital single “Waiting” was released on 19 October.
Syskofrenia, playing catchy but personal jazz pop , startles the audience with strong lyrics. The debut album “Minä” is set to released on 26 October by Eclipse Music.
On 1 November, Finnish jazz vocalist Kadi Vija releases a cassette tape dedicated to Phoebe Buffay, the character from the 90’s American cult series Friends.
TTT-Klubi’s concerts from January to May 2019 are now opened for presale. Spring season includes 15 Saturday-night concerts, around half of them being the first-time visits.

All Music Finland’s co-exhibitors get the discount for the participation fee, but if you wish to fly solo, remember to register before the early bird rate expires on October 17! The showcase application starts on the 1st of November and closes already on the 22nd.
Iceland-born guitarist Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson’s Dark Forest ensemble is set to release their second album Horizon on 19 October.
