Spring season 2020 of April Jazz Club presents high-quality program of international and Finnish jazz performers. Program consists of instrumental and vocal jazz, and a couple of visits to soul music with special singer legends. Concerts are held in Tapiola, Espoo.
The 16th Flame Jazz Cruise departures next week, on 25th to 26th January. This year’s theme is World Jazz and programme includes of afrobeat, progressive rock, folk music from Kaustinen, Arabic music and bossa nova, to name a few styles presented.
G Livelab Helsinki’s just announced spring program offers also many jazz performers, including awarded drummer-producer Teppo Mäkynen’s band 3TM, 1960s favourites presenting Aili Ikonen & Jukka Perko Avara, Icelandic Sunna Gunlaugs Trio feat. Verneri Pohjola, and Australian jazz bassist Linda May Han Oh.
Band exchange project Heimojazz (”Tribal Jazz”) by Jazz Finland and Estonian Jazz Union continues in January. As part of the exchange, the Estonian and Latvian band Matīss Čudars Trio performs on Juttutupa’s Rytmihäiriö Club on Wednesday, January 15th.
Freshly out of Sibelius Academy with Doctor's Degree in hand, guitarist Sami Linna takes his quartet to the first Jazz Finland tour in January 28–February 7. The quartet – Linna accopanied by saxophonist Jussi Kannaste, Mikko Helevä in Hammond and American Dana Hall in drums – released their debut album on the stylish Timmion Records earlier this year.
Saxophonist Masa Orpana’s new digital Matkalla release consists of two new tracks Sisar and Matkalla.

Once again Turku Jazz Festival brings light and joy the beginning of March with its awaited star guests including bassist Richard Bona and charismatic trombonist Nils Landgren. Other top-notch acts heard at the festival are Johanna Frösti, Elifantree and Hanna Paulsberg Concept among many others! Pianist Jussi Fredriksson celebrates his surprise choice as Turku Jazz Artist of the Year.
Odysseus takes place at Lonna island on 25 – 26 July and expands Lonna concert series to a two-day festival. First acts are now released and the festival will feature ensembles such as Timo Lassy Band, Verneri Pohjola Quartet, 3TM, Dalindèo, JAF Trio ja itävaltalainen Mario Rom’s Interzone. Early Bird tickets are sale on Monday 16 December.
