Once again Turku Jazz Festival brings light and joy the beginning of March with its awaited star guests including bassist Richard Bona and charismatic trombonist Nils Landgren. Other top-notch acts heard at the festival are Johanna Frösti, Elifantree and Hanna Paulsberg Concept among many others! Pianist Jussi Fredriksson celebrates his surprise choice as Turku Jazz Artist of the Year.
Odysseus takes place at Lonna island on 25 – 26 July and expands Lonna concert series to a two-day festival. First acts are now released and the festival will feature ensembles such as Timo Lassy Band, Verneri Pohjola Quartet, 3TM, Dalindèo, JAF Trio ja itävaltalainen Mario Rom’s Interzone. Early Bird tickets are sale on Monday 16 December.
Svart Records releases Olavi Louhivuori’s Immediate Music album series second part on 13 December.
Crest Jazz Vocal takes place in Crest, Drôme in Southeast France between 28 to 31 July 2020.
Pirkanmaan Saksofonifestivaali (PSF) takes place from 13 to 15 of March 2020 in Tampere.
The association of Finnish freelance musicians has awarded their annual grant to saxophonist Linda Fredriksson. Fredriksson works widely in the field of music as a soloist, composer and band leader both in Finland and abroad. During her career she has been part of ensembles such as Mopo, Ricky-Tick Big Band, Ultra Bra among others.
The top musicians of contemporary folk music join forces on Henna-Maija Vannemaa Quartet’s new album “Haave”. Vannemaa was selected as the Accordion Artist of 2019 by the Suomen Harmonikkaliitto (the Finnish Accordion Association).
The album was published in collaboration with the Global Music Centre in November 2019 as part of Etnosoi! Festival.
Seimiyö concerts take place at National Theatre’s Lavaklubi on 13 December and at Pikkuteatteri in Lahti on 14 December.
Internationally recognised We Jazz festival presents an inspirational set of jazz music in Helsinki, Tampere and Tallin between 1 and 8 December. The seventh We Jazz features names such as Maria Faust Machina, Elliot Galvin, Koma Saxo, ADHD, Muriel Grossmann, Terkel Nørgaard, Ralph Alessi, Oddarrang, Timo Lassy & Teppo Mäkynen and Katu Kaiku.
