Turku Jazz Festival starts today

The second oldest jazz event in Finland is Turku Jazz Festival, which starts today on Thursday 5th March. The opening concert in Bar Ö features solo bass performance by Ville Herrala, and Fredator swings together with saxophonist Max Zenger. The weekend's main concerts in Logomo are already sold out.

Turku Jazz Festival took a head-start to festival week already yesteday, when the artistic director Jussi Fredriksson played a solo piano concert at the new office of Jazz City Turku. On Thursday the official opening concert is played in Bar Ö, by bassist Ville Herrala and a fresh band Freezer. Thursday late night is featured by master pianist Riitta Paakki and students of Conservatory of Turku in Tiirikkala. Tiirikkala invites festival guests to a jazz brunch on Sunday. The brunch is festured by L´Alliance Takalo.

Turku Jazz Festival's awaited star guests include bassist Richard Bona and charismatic trombonist Nils Landgren. Other top-notch acts heard at the festival are Johanna Frösti, Elifantree and Hanna Paulsberg Concept among many others! Pianist Jussi Fredriksson celebrates his surprise choice as Turku Jazz Artist of the Year. These main concerts in Logomo have already sold out.
