Pope Puolitaival Nordic4 tours around Finland in March and April. Nordic4 released their latest album "Northern Resonance" last autumn. The tour is co-produced by Creatika and Jazz Finland.
Pope Puolitaival Nordic4 plays melodic jazz music that aims to speak to a wider audience, without compromising the deepest essence of jazz. On the Jazz Finland co-produced tour, the band performs material from their latest album "Northern Resonance", which was released last autumn. The music draws from the northern mindset and leans into collective improvisation on the live stages. New layers are created through interactive solos and musical dialogue.
Nordic4's catchy compositions and virtuosic improvisations are influenced by film music and the modern urban world. Saxophonist and composer Puolitaival presents also new and electrified shades of Finnish jazz with electronically modified saxophone.
Puolitaival counts among Finland’s most sought-after jazz saxophonists: he leads his own group and plays in some of the most defining Finnish jazz groups such as Dalindèo, Ricky-Tick Big Band and Nina Mya Band. Nordic4 consists also of pianist Jussi Fredriksson (Jussi Fredriksson Trio, Nassaun Fasaani), drummer Jonatan Sarikoski (Jonatan Sarikoski Search Party, Masiina, Maxxxtet) and bassist Jori Huhtala (Jori Huhtala 3, Eero Koivistoinen Quartet, Raoul Björkenheim Triad).
