Turku Jazz Festival will be held this year for the 54th time. Trumpeter Mikko Gunu Karjalainen shines as the festival's Artist of the Year, and Logomo's festival stage will present, among others, jazz legends Dave Holland and Eero Koivistoinen. Saturday evening March 4 culminates with a performance of Turku Jazz Orchestra and Astrid Nicole's Beyoncé! project.

Sointi Jazz Orchestra's 10th anniversary year starts in March with three joint concerts with contemporary folk music duo VILDÁ on March 16–18 in Helsinki, Kangasa and Porvoo. In addition, the spring program includes a concert with composer-pianist Sid Hille on April 14 in Temppeliaukio church, and May 16 an evening of new music at Malmitalo, where Tero Hyväluomaa will be heard as violin soloist.

Award-winning pianist and composer Iro Haarla will perform her latest ballads with her jazz quintet in three concerts in February-March. The first public performance will be February 25 at Joensuu's Musiikkitalvi and the quintet will perform afterwards on March 7 at G Livelab in Tampere and March 8 in Espoo's Sello Hall.

The nominees for the 2023 Teosto Prize were selected from Finnish works of music published in 2022. The Teosto Prize, which was first awarded in 2003 and is now being awarded for the 18th time, is one of the most noteworthy art prizes in the Nordic countries. The purpose of the prize is to recognise bold, original and innovative works of music.
