Iisalmi Jazz Festival to be held for the third time July 27–August 3, 2022

Iisalmi has become an important concert city for Finnish jazz musicians. Local concert goers as well as business partners have contributed greatly to this with their excited attitude towards new music and events that enliven the area. Iisalmi Jazz Festival will now be held for the third time from July 27 to August 3, 2022 - this time in the summer.


Apply to perform on Jazz Finalnd tours in the spring of 2023!

Jazz Finland (Suomen Jazzliitto) produces two tours in the spring season 2023, between March 13–26, 2023 and May 8–21, 2023. All kinds of jazz ensembles, with a majority of Finnish musicians, may apply to perform on these tours. The application period is from April 11, 2022 at 9 am to May 9, 2022 at 4 pm.  




Orchestra, concert organiser or venue: join the live music climate action!

The Finnish live music industry joins forces in two sustainability projects this year to measure the carbon footprint of the business, and to build a digital planning toolkit for sustainable development. Jazz Finland administrates the projects in 2022–2023, and the steering group consists of the main umbrella organisations in Finnish live music. 


Susanna Aleksandra Quartet On Jazz Finland Tour in May

Singer-composer Susanna Aleksandra's quartet is the last of Jazz Finland Spring Tours this year. The foursome tours seven cities, playing compelling tunes from their lates album The Siren, which was released in Finland last year.


Kirjazz & Blues to be held in June

After a gap year, the joy of rhythm can once again be enjoyed on the Kirjaslampi  stage, when the 13th Kirjazz & Blues mini-festival brings the scenic Kirjaslampi to life on Saturday, June 11.


Late July’s Jazz-Espa event launches full program

The annual Jazz-Espa concert series will once again present the best Finnish jazz in the Esplanadi Park from 25-30 July. The free concerts will feature close to twenty ensembles, with top artists such as Joonas Haavisto, Anna Inginmaa, Raoul Björkenheim and Riikka Keränen. 


UNESCO’s International Jazz Day on 30 April celebrates jazz music as an ambassador for peace and dialogue among cultures

This week, we will celebrate UNESCO’s International Jazz Day. In addition to the intrinsic artistic value of jazz, the wider context of the day – its message of peace, intercultural dialogue, and respect for human rights and human dignity – is particularly poignant this spring. In Finland, the message will be delivered through Jazz Finland’s Jazz Day campaign, in collaboration with musicians Timo Lassy and Kaisa Mäensivu.
