Band exchange project Heimojazz (”Tribal Jazz”) by Finnish Jazz Federation and Estonian Jazz Union continues in May, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic and its after-effects. As part of the exchange, Jazz Federation’s tour band Joonas Tuuri Quartet plays in Tallinn on the 20th of May, and the Estonian ensemble LUUM performs on Juttutupa’s Rytmihäiriö Club on Wednesday, May 31st.
Flame Jazz's summer concert series starts again on Wednesday, May 17 on the Cathedral Park Terrace. The program consists of current names of the domestic jazz scene and skillful ensembles. During the summer season, you can enjoy free concerts on Wednesdays in a pleasant park atmosphere on the banks of the Aura River.

Turku Sea Jazz, which will be organized for the third time, will start at Cathedral Park Terrace on Wednesday 26 July 2023. Thursday will be spent on Seili island. Singer, composer, bandleader Maja Mannila’s trio represents Finland at the Nordic Jazz Comets event in Stockholm and Gävle on May 11–12. The event is a part of the two-year project Nordic Jazz Comets Dagsverke, which is steered by the five Nordic jazz organizations. In the project, Nordic bands learn about sustainability projects, meet colleagues and promoters, and play at a showcase. The artistic management of Porvoo Jazz Festival ry is in for a renewal. Drummer Jaska Lukkarinen, who has been the association's artistic director for eight years, will step back as he focuses on his doctoral studies at the Sibelius Academy. In the fall season of 2023, saxophonist-composer and woodwind specialist Max Zenger will start as the organization's new artistic director.
Bassist Joonas Tuuri leads his quartet to a seven-concert tour from the Northern city of Oulu all the way to the other side of the Baltic Sea, to Tallinn. The group released their debut album Dimensions in 2022, and collected over two Million Spotify streams to it.
